Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS Installation Crash
I am currently trying to install Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS on my HP Pavilion a6230n with BIOS v5.13. Currently, I am dual booting with Vista on the second primary partition and windows 8 on the third primary partition. I would like to install Ubuntu as a third OS on my HD. Through successfully booting to "Try Ubuntu" I was able to open G-Part and format a fourth primary extended partition where I would like to install Ubuntu. I Used G-Part to create a SWAP partition (8GB) and a EXT4 partition (100BG) to install Ubuntu on.
The problem that I am having occurs when I am either trying to install Ubuntu or install drivers prior to install in the try Ubuntu environment. In both cases, Ubuntu crashes and I get a black Dos looking screen.
Please note that I previously had successfully configured my computer to tri-boot with Ubuntu installed as WUBI, however want to install Ubuntu outside the windows environment due to some install or performance problems with WUBI. Before formatting my HD with G-part I had to hold down the power button to recover from the crash, however after formatting my HD with G-Part I can now press the power button for 1 second and Ubuntu boots to its log on screen, yet it is uninstalled (I cannot login, in addition there is no guest option) This suggests to me that WUBI has not been fully uninstalled... is there a clean up tool?
Please also note that I cannot connect to the internet with my wifi card, however the install crash still occurs when I am connect to the internet through a either-net cable. I have tried the installation with both a 64bit and 32bit, both still crash. My PC will not support EFI, thus both windows OS are installed via the BIOS.
If the problem is not related to the previous WUBI install, I suspect that it is due to a driver problem or the fact that SMART HD check is currently enabled in my BIOS (don't know how to disable it). I have also tried to install Ubuntu with the secure remix iso, but that also crashes.
Sorry for the long message, but I just can't figure this one out and am new to Lenux. As a final note, I even tried deleting my windows system partition temporarily so windows would not boot through G-part and still the Ubuntu install failed. With my PCs capabilities, I would like to install the 32bit version. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Patrick
